Workshops
I am an experienced workshop leader and have worked with a wide range of different groups in a variety of settings, as you can see on my Portfolio pages. On this page you can see a selection of the workshops I offer, all of which can be adapted to suit a wide variety of ages and abilities. I am always happy to create a new workshop for a group so if you have something particular in mind please contact me and I'll see what I can do! For more information, availability or to book a workshop please contact me.
I also offer a range of online learning options for those unable to attend my 'real life' workshops. I can also offer 1:1 sessions via zoom, please contact me for more details.
For details of workshops I'm running for other organisations and venues that you may wish to attend please see the news page.
Selected Workshops
Hand Embroidery: Embellishing Printed FabricMany people are keen to try embroidery but are put off by a perceived lack of design skills. In this workshop we will look at how we can use printed fabric as a base for embroidery; using the design and colours of the print to inspire experimentation with a range of stitches. This workshop is ideal for beginners wanting to try new stitches and also for more experienced stitchers who are keen to expand their stitch repertoire. | Bird and Animal Portraits: An Introduction to Machine Embroidery and AppliqueLearn how to use your sewing machine as a drawing machine and create a beautiful bird or animal portrait. We'll look at how to set up your machine, how to 'draw' with your machine, how to transfer a design onto cloth and how to apply other fabrics to add colour and texture to your portrait. Templates are provided or bring your own photo or design to work from. Suitable for beginners this workshop will also provide lots of useful hints and tips for more experienced stitchers. | Delicate Threads: Free Machine Embroidery on Water Soluble FabricIn this workshop we'll explore different machine embroidery techniques on water soluble fabric; allowing us to create delicate thread sculptures and motifs. Some experience with a sewing machine is an advantage for this workshop but confident beginners are welcome! |
