Lead Artist: Somme 100 Quilt Project

September-November 2016

St. Catherine's RC School, Penrith, Victoria Juniors, Workington, Brook Street School, Carlisle

A partnership project between Prism Arts and Cumbria's Museum of Military Life. We worked with schools and community groups to make patches to create a commemorative quilt for the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.  The work was unfurled on Armistice Day at Carlisle Castle.

Printing Workshop

Organised and funded by Cumbria Decorative and Fine art Society I ran a print making session for students with additional learning needs from Whitehaven School at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery.

Deadly Dragons Puppet Making: Drop in Workshop

The Lanes Shopping Centre/ Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle

To coincide with the opening of Tullie Houses's Deadly Dragons exhibition I ran a drop in puppet making session in The Lanes Shopping Centre.

Fabulous Frottage Birds

Working with Key Stage 1 children to create a wall display for the school using frottage and collage to create birds and branches.

 

Fish Puppet Workshops

Working with Year 5 students to create fish puppets from milk bottles and fabric for Carlisle's Puppet Pageant Parade.

 

Mixed Media Book Making workshop

Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle

A mixed media book making workshop for sixth form students inspired by the work of artist Anselm Kiefer.

 

Artist Rooms: Skyground Audio Visual Installation

March-June 2015

James Rennie SEN School/Beaumont College, Carlisle

As part of Tullie House's Artist Rooms: Anselm Kiefer exhibition myself and sound artist Mark Newport worked with a group of children and young people to produce an audio-visual installation in the grounds of Tullie House in response to the Kiefer exhibition. The work incorporated new technologies, including the use of Raspberry Pi micro processors. The work hung in the Tullie House gardens between June and September. This project was delivered through Prism Arts.

 

The Seven Stories

March-July 2015

St. Bede's Primary School, Carlisle

Working with Year 4 to develop work in response to writing workshops done with artist David Napthine. The resulting work will go on display at Carlisle Library. This project is part of a large project run by Prism Arts and Cumbria Libraries Service.

Arts Award Transition Project
March 2014
William Howard School, Brampton
I worked with three primary schools and William Howard Secondary School on part of an Arts Award Project which was also part of a transition project. Inspired by the work of Gillian Ayres I explored colour theory and painting in unusual ways with the students.

Outreach work for Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in Primary schools in Cumbria and Dumfries
Organising and delivering automata workshops for Key Stage 2 pupils in Primary schools.

 

International Art Project

As part of the schools International week I worked with Key Stage 1 pupils looking at patterns and animals from around the world, we then made fabric patches inspired by these which I then made into giant hangings.

 

George Howard Envelope Workshops

William Howard High School, Brampton. Organised by Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery
Workshops looking at making personalised envelopes inspired by the work of George Howard to coincide with an exhibition at Tullie House.

 

Textile Project: The Sea
January-April 2013
James Rennie School, Carlisle

Working with Key Stage 4 using textile techniques such as dyeing and rag-rug making to create a piece of artwork for the school based on the sea.

 

Banner Making
May/June 2012
Rockcliffe C of E Primary School, Carlisle

Organising, planning and delivering a school-wide project to create a 3D banner for the Olympic Torch parade. As well as working with the students I ran a session for parents and members of the community.

 

Christmas Crafts

Working with all the year groups to create festive crafts for sale at the Christmas Fayre. I worked with all year groups and designed the activities accordingly.

Big Draw: Drawing Workshops

Working with foundation stage and key stage 2 children exploring different ways of drawing, this culminated in an exhibition at The Crown Gallery in Carlisle.

 

Easter Crafts

I designed and ran a workshop for young people with learning disabilities (aged 10-19) designing and making simple pop up cards and Easter decorations.

 

BBC Blast: Assistant Practitioner T-shirt design and Costume design

BBC Blast, Whitehaven
Working with young people aged 13-19 to design and produce t-shirts for themselves and costumes for a physical theatre production.

 

Automata Workshop
June 2010
Carlisle Mencap Playscheme, Carlisle

I designed and ran a workshop for young people with learning disabilities (aged 10-19) designing and making simple automata using recycled materials and cardboard.

 

1998-2004 and 2009-Present: Guide Leader

First as a Young Leader then an adult leader with the Guides I have developed strong leadership and communication skills as well as working as part of a team and being sensitive to the needs of each individual. My time management and organisational skills have also been developed in this role as well as a strong sense of responsibility.
